Phil Johnson has been appointed as Chief Executive Designate of Asia Pacific at Price Forbes.

Based in Singapore, Phil will broaden Price Forbes’ (re)insurance broking platform, working closely with the wider Ardonagh Specialty teams, linking trading throughout the region in partnership with CEO APAC Ardonagh Specialty Alex Gilmore, through London, Bermuda, Singapore and Hong Kong, and will be instrumental in Ardonagh’s expansion throughout Asia. He will move to CEO at the end of September, subject to the relevant regulatory approvals, at which time Stephen Britten, the current CEO, will become Executive Chairman of Price Forbes Asia.

Phil joins from Miller Insurance LLP, where he was Head of Casualty, Chair of the Australasian territorial group and was responsible for setting the broader wholesale strategy for Property, Casualty and Financial Lines. Before his decade at Miller, Phil worked in politics, having previously trained as a solicitor.

Phil has a proven track record of scaling businesses and brings in-depth knowledge across management, business development and client servicing. He has extensive experience in complex placements, tribunalising coverholders and creating exclusive market facilities to provide clients with faster response times and broader coverage.

Stephen Britten, CEO of Price Forbes AsiaPac commented: “We are delighted to have Phil join our business. His knowledge and drive in building and scaling broking teams and his experience in both wholesale and facultative (re)insurance will be key to fuel our ambitious growth targets in the APAC region. His joining further demonstrates our commitment to provide our clients with the best practitioners in the market.”

Phil Johnson, CEO Designate of Price Forbes AsiaPac said: “I have spent my career providing specialist solutions to clients looking for an alternative to the big 3 brokers. Ardonagh’s unparalleled London growth journey means it has the unique breadth of talent, scale, and entrepreneurial zeal to be the broker of choice for independent clients seeking competitive advantage. Asia is the fastest growing major insurance market in the world and with the strength of the London and Bermudan businesses supporting us, I’m looking forward to working with the teams in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia to achieve explosive growth in APAC.”

Andrew Wallin, CEO* of Ardonagh Specialty said “Phil’s appointment links to the wider Ardonagh Group’s international growth strategy as we broaden our broking capabilities globally. It’s an exciting time, and an exciting place to be. Ardonagh does growth well – recognising speciality expertise and capitalising on both talent and scale to cater to clients’ changing needs, maintain relevance to carriers and absorb the technological, environmental and cultural shifts that are set to transform our sector in the next decade.”
